I wouldn’t buy him a cat….especially not without talking with him first about the book you found. He’s old enough to explain why he has such a book as well as old enough to understand why you would be concerned. If after you two talk and you feel more at peace about getting the cat make sure he knows better about harming the cat as well as the consequences. And, if you do get the cat just be sure to keep an eye out for any signs of abuse. Cats will show signs of abuse even if no physical marks are present.
Instead of getting him a cat or a xBox get him into therapy asap! that is a serious problem and can lead to him killing when hes older. havent you ever heard of that? murderers usually grew up torturing animals and insects when they were little and look where they are now! if you catch this now, you might have a chance at saving your son. good luck and watch him like a hawk. you dont want him hurting anyone including you.

You find a book on how to torture animals in a 10 year olds room and then entertain the request for a pet for Christmas? I don’t think so. Get him some counselling instead. It will be more useful.
