Wow… i never thought someone would post a question like this!
i took sexual psychology in college some years ago.
and most people are afraid to use the correct words like Penis and vagina.
sadly it starts at a young age!
I’m sure you seen parents say show me your eyes! show me your pe pe! WHAT why not use the correct term! it’s a penis not a pe pe! i mean this is how our kids are growing up! for the girls!
mothers say ” if anyones touches you down there let mommy know” WHAT … if one is fear ful of other touching a child don’t you want to be sure that they are getting touched in the vagina and not the thighs i mean come one!
but this carries and pans out into life! when you raise a child to say down there they grow up thinking the correct word is wrong almost like a bad word! and the down there is the correct word
leaves way to much room for miscommunication in my eyes!
just my thoughts!

It isn’t about being ashamed of our bodies or anything like that. For me, it’s because I see no need to discuss private parts in public like that. Who cares if it’s the 21st century? it’s still unnecessary to talk about one’s genitals openly, unless you’re with your spouse or at the doctor’s office. Otherwise, for goodness sakes keep it to yourself. ; )

I’ve always thought that too. I guess I feel weird about it because my mum NEVER used the word Vagina. Funny though, as she insisted that a penis was a penis and not a willy when talking to my brothers.
My children, who are 5, 3 and 2 all use the words penis and vagina I think if you’re going to the doctors for example, it takes the embarassment away from the situation.

I just have enough common sense to know that nobody wants to hear detailed information about my girl bits.
Half the time it’s brought up it’s not even pertinent to the conversation.

Because vagina sounds like a disease… like angina I like the C-word though. Better for insulting people than talking about genitalia, but hey…
And you’re ignoring the clitoris. Women dont just have a vagina (unless we’re talking women who have been ‘circumcised’… I pity them GREATLY)
