i love the people who turn this issue into a “i hate feminists, you suck feminists” approach. we’re talking about HUMAN rights here since, yes, women are humans. we do have a right to try to help indian women. how are they any different than american women? some of you say, “leave the issue alone, it’s their culture.” i’m sorry, but since when is murdering innocent people an appropriate culture?by the way, i am not a christian and do not maintain that christianity will solve their problems. i would love to see these women rise up and defend themselves. something has to be done.

and to answer the question.. Western media finds the worst story that happened in some remote village of India and portray it like that country is third world and thats the only thing that happens in this country..
And people like you who ask question listen to that media and stay ignorant.. Sorry I have to be bluntly honest
To give you and example.. media in other countries portray that all girls in west get pregnant at 15, and families are broken.. Do you think this is true ? Well not.. a few times but not like 90% .. So stop reading these news papers and posting ignorant questions..

It may unfortunately continue until Indian women have the right to keep and bear arms. Or until some of these women have the courage to burn the women beating cowards in their beds. Women are beautiful and fascinating, to be respected and treated with dignity.

I am Indian and there is nothing like that happening in India. There are few percentages of people but over all women in India rock babe… we do better than you for sure and we have values and ethics more than anyone in the USA!!! LOL

Rudey, your rant about preservation of culture and religion and butting out of other people’s cultures is sadly misplaced. There is no country in the world where the women feel it is ok to burn, tortue and harass them for dowry. Thinking that they the women love these non-civil, animal-like treatments because it is a century old tradition or because it is tied to their religion shows a lack of sensitivity towards humans

One of my groups in medical sociology has that issue for their group project! This is a horrible practice condoned by stupid people.
Rudey you equate drinking beer with murder? Tell me what part of your religion or culture allows this?
We do have a right to support human rights.
The only way drinking too much beers hurts anyone but the drinker is if they drink and drive and we are doing something about that!

It’s not your business! You Americans always want to meddle in other countries social affairs. No one outside USA can come and tell US to stop drinking beer, smoking, what to eat, how to where your clothes ( especially school uniforms), how to select your polical leaders, etc. You White people always want to be HEROS for saving other PEOPLES. You don’t bother to truly consider OTHER PEOPLES customs and traditions inputs. It’s always has to be your way or no way. Look at the Crusades. Who told those damn people that other PEOPLES around the world wanted to give up there religion for White peoples beliefs. Hence, Latin America, US Native Americans, indians of the West Indies, the Polynesians, Hawaiians, etc. It just goes on and on. What’s worst is that if the inhabitants did not want to believe in this new religion (Christianity), then they were force to or killed. Unbelievable!
Let those Indian women figure their own stuff out. Let their local sufferage leaders do their thing. They don’t need the US. Where were they when America was and is going through its struggles?
